\nYou may have heard it said that God won’t give you more than you can handle… but this is not wholly true.
This came to life for us this month as we went in for the first scan of our fourth pregnancy. We had it all planned out… that baby number 4 would just slot in and that it would be easy.
\nGoing from 3 to 5 children will certainly not be easy, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I felt overwhelmed when the news first sunk in. Yet I know what God promises…
\nAll that said, I wanted to encourage you, that if you find yourself in a scenario where you’re asking yourself “how am I going to cope?”, the truth we can firmly stand on is that whilst God may give you more than you can handle in your own strength, He will not give you more than you can handle in His strength!
What we’ve been enjoying lately
\n
- I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the Emma M Lion series. If you haven’t read the first one yet, I implore you to try it! Full of wit, charm, fascinating historical detail and a glimpse into 18th century Britain. Think Jane Austen but incredibly easy to read - partly because they’re in journal form, meaning very short chapters. I’ve devoured the first two far too quickly.
- Sefton (8) has been devouring books faster than I can source them, and here are three recent favourites - Sign of the Beaver, which is the story of a 13 year old boy who struggles to survive on his own in the wilderness in 18th century America, Cricket in Times Square, which follows the adventures of a street wise mouse and his friends in New York, and The Tale of Desperaux - another tale centred around a brave mouse!
- Bethel (5) has been looking forward to her Bedtime Blessings reading everyday. A truly beautiful way to end the day. Speaking words of life over them, for them to dwell on as they drift off ❤️
- Elias’ (2) firm favourites are proving to be anything by Julia Donaldson, with their rhythmic charm, fun stories and iconic illustration, but his favourite by far is The Smartest Giant in Town - a delightful story of sacrificial generosity.
