Dear friends,
As we approach the arrival of our fourth and fifth children, I wanted to acknowledge and share with you the thing that no one warns you about, yet it hits me every time…
The quiet grief.
The grief that comes as you realise how this change will affect your other children, especially the youngest.
I’ve walked this path twice already. But this third time, expecting twins, I find myself grieving the closeness with my littlest sidekick, Elias.
I grieve not being the one to comfort him in the night.
I grieve that he now spends more time with other family members.
I grieve that it will no longer be just the three kids and I.
If you're also preparing to welcome another child and feel this quiet ache too, please know, it’s normal.
There is grief, yes. And there will be adjustments. But alongside it all, there will be joy:
✨ The joy of watching them dote over their baby sibling
✨ The joy of seeing their bond deepen as they grow
✨ The joy of watching them “step up” and enjoy helping
✨ And the joy I look forward to the most: watching their friendships flourish well into adulthood
