I believe we can see God in all things. This companion will help you in seeking to do just that, all whilst reading Heidi.
Join us as we seek to find echoes of the Greatest Story, hidden on its pages. Using themes that come up in the book as springboards into faith-filled conversations, planting the truths of scripture into our children’s hearts and minds, helping them to see all of life through the lens of scripture.
This 80+ page book companion includes 10 sections, taking Heidi, chapter by chapter, and providing the following for 10 of the chapters:
- A reflection to be read aloud, whereby a biblical theme or parallel is drawn from the chapter.
- A corresponding memory verse to reflect on or memorise.
- Copy work of the memory verse.
- Discussion questions for all ages.
- For older children, a “dig deeper” section, going deeper into the theology with activities and larger portions of scripture.
- Activities to do together, such as singing a hymn, reflecting on a provided art piece, or writing a letter of encouragement.
- A memory verse poster, containing beautiful illustrations, to keep on the wall to aid memorisation and reflection.
- At least one colouring sheet per section, to keep little (or big) hands busy.
What ages is this for?
At the risk of sounding vague, this companion was designed to be used by the whole family, bearing in mind those who have a variety of ages at home, like myself. The colouring sheets can be used by the little ones, whilst the older children are discussing the questions, grappling with theological concepts.
However, that said, to fully engage with the discussion and activities, it would be suited for ages 6/7+.
How long is this guide/companion?
It has 10 sections. Each section can either be done in one sitting, or a couple, allowing you to really focus on memorisation of the scripture.
That said, how you use this guide is entirely up to you. You could do one a week, or one a day.
Do I have to read Heidi at the same time?
This is up to you. You could read the book all the way through, then use this companion afterwards. Alternatively, you could read each chapter, then do the corresponding chapter of the guide immediately afterwards. Either would work well, depending on the needs/wishes of your individual family.
This is a digital download
You will receive a digital download to the email address you provide. No physical copy will be sent. You may print these files or have them printed at a local print shop. The beauty of this being digital, is that you can print multiple copies of the copy work, colouring sheets and memory verse posters to allow all children to have copies. As well as the ability to use it again in a few years time!
Endorsements for previous guides:
"I'm thrilled that Jessica has created the Anne of Green Gables guide. It's such a beautiful way to connect a beloved, classical story to Scripture and Biblical themes. As Charlotte Mason says, there is no separation between the secular and sacred, and this guide embodies turning our eyes to scripture in whatever we are reading!" Beth @ Little World Wanderers (Founder of Little World Wanderers)

“In her guide, Jessica seeks to point parents and children to the Lord, seeing the story as a window to view God’s goodness and faithfulness. Throughout her guide, there is rich truth about who God is, his character, and His great love. You’ll be encouraged to go further into the story and explore deeper truths.” Leah @Livingbrighthomeschool
“Life Giving Page’s devotional book guide is a fun way to include the whole family in read aloud activities! I love that there has been attention to detail for including pages for the younger ones up through older children all while weaving in the gospel which is my favorite part most of all. It brings to life the scripture, “and whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”. Colossians 3:17” Allison Dennis @ Faithful Little Farmhouse (Author of the Virtue Chick series)
“As a homeschooling mother to five children aging between 2-9 years old, I’ve found it challenging at times to find literature based resources that our whole family can enjoy together.
Jessica’s new devotional guides lead the entire family into rich, meaningful and gospel centred conversations about truth, beauty, and goodness. While not all good, beautiful or truth-filled stories are written from a Christian perspective, Christ can be found in them - so long as you’re willing to look!
Full of lovely memory verses, copy work, scriptures, colouring pages and discussion questions to dig in deep, this guide will provide everything you need to keep your toddlers busy while you engage your bigger kids in gospel-centred chats. You’ll be surprised at what you find when you dig into wonderful classic books!” Renee Emerson @ Blossoming Through Books (Founder of the online book club ministry)
